About Us

Northwind Botanicals was founded in 2025 by Emilie Jenkins, LM, MSM after the birth of her third child. Wanting to keep her hands in the work of midwifery, but also needing a more regular job (babies are really bad a scheduling things) she decided to make her passion her day job and Northwind Botanicals was born. Trained in community based birth and herbalism, Emilie is a graduate of Bastyr University with a Master's of Science in Midwifery where she now currently teaches the next season of midwives the ways of the plants. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Emilie grows many of the medicinal plants at her family's home where she currently lives in her intergenerational home with her partner, her three kids, her parents, and several sassy chickens. (Also a few thousand honey bees). Herbal medicine has long been a passion of Emilie's. It is truly the people's medicine and in a time where healthcare is often difficult to access and autonomy is threatened, Emilie works to combine the traditional healing of the land with modern science and evidence based practice. Plants make good medicine, but it is the plants that have withstood the cold Northwind that are often the strongest. Named for this spirit of perseverance, justice, and hope, Emilie strives to bring healing to her community and her planet one medicine at a time.
